Christmas is coming!!

Ah yes, it is once again that time of year. The time when all little angels begin to dream of what Santa may possibly bring them. We haven't even begun to do any Christmas shopping, but today we took some photos for a possible Christmas card. Here's a glimpse of just a few of our choices.

Inside the craziness...

Well, things here are starting to calm down. We've gotten through birthdays, Halloween and Adoption Day. Just two more events and we'll be ready for Thanksgiving and Christmas!! The girls like to do countdowns and with all of the special events going on lately, they are getting really good at counting backwards!

This Sunday, Madi is being baptized at our church in McCallsburg and then we will be going to a "shower" at Aunt Cheryl's house. (Fitting that it is on National Adoption Day) Madi isn't too good at remembering names yet, but she is sure excited to "go to Aunt Cheryl's house!"

Aunt Jeni did a nice job taking photos at the adoption and getting them posted on here for everyone to see, but... I think this one is the sweetest. Madi has slept with that quilt and bear every night. She loves anything that she can call "MINE".

At least once a day now, Madi comes to me and says so sincerely, "I just love you so much. I don't know why, but I just do." What could you possibly say to that?!

We are so truly blessed to have two sweet girls. Even when they drive us nuts, that sweetness is still there... somewhere. : )

It is FINAL!

Today we celebrated Madison's Adoption. It went really fast but it is a complete relief that she is officially a Heim.

BIRTHDAY PARTY!!

On Saturday Megan & Madison had their birthday party for friends and of course it wouldn't be complete if Grandpa, Aunt Jeni & Jordan didn't joined in the fun. Grandma would have been there too but she wasn't feeling well. Grandma did make the cake and gave Aunt Jeni instructions on how to finish it but Grandma could have done so much better.

After cake & ice cream, we opened presents then went outside to play.....

Another year, another good party!

Playtime

The girls spent the afternoon playing outside in the wonderful weather! Of course they found time for a few dozen photos as well!!

Tuesday we signed the petition for adoption and have been told that we will have a finalization date soon.

Hope you don't mind.

Megan & Madi are always ready for a picture to be taken and Uncle Jason is always ready to take the picture. Last weekend we were all together for Cindy & Jeff's wedding and the girls were in picture posing mode. Uncle Jason snapped these photos of the girls that just have to be shared. "SMILE"

The Kitten Who Found Her Mittens!!

This afternoon I was looking out the window and noticed that instead of TWO black cats on the deck, we suddenly had THREE. Our new friend has a couple interesting characteristics! Take a look at both of her front paws.

Our newest member

I know, I know!! We really don't need ANOTHER dog! If you know us at all, you know that we have a huge soft spot for animals! This little guy (Kooper) needed a home, so of course we took him. He is a 3-year-old AKC registered purebred Pomeranian sweet heart!!

Everyone knows how much I loved Kobi and how heartbroken I was went she passed. There isn't a dog on earth that could ever take Kobi's place, but this one comes pretty close. They are so much alike in looks and personality.

"The Dress"

Despite holdups with DHS, we are still holding onto hope that the big day will be here soon. To get ready, Madi tried on "The Dress" that Megan has been telling her about it such lavish detail. Madi was all for it. Really, what little girl wouldn't want to dress like a princess for a day?!
We got the dress on her and her face was shining. But then... something began to happen. Her face began to wrinkle... her shoulders began to sag... you could almost see the dream of being a princess evaporate from her mind. Carefully, we took the dress off, hung it lovingly on the hanger and placed it in it's sacred spot in the closet to wait for the big day.
That's when Madi ever so carefully asked the question. "Do I have to wear that dress?" I should have known. The dress that had been such a hit with our fashion diva Megan, wasn't quite what no-nonsense Madi could tolerate. After a little more question and answer, it was the scratchy netting under the skirt that she didn't like. So we'll find something else for her wear. Hopefully something that will go with the scraped knees and resist whatever sweet she gets her hands on that day.
So here is a photo of Madi wearing "The Dress". We probably will never see her wear it again.

Aunt Jeni's Blankies

Aunt Jeni was so sweet and made Megan a special blanket to take to Kindergarten for rest time.
So when it came time for Madi to go to Kindergarten, nothing else would do but a special blanket from Aunt Jeni.

Off to school again

Monday, Aug. 20, was the first day of school. Madi was really excited to go and see her friends again. She even had her speech ready for when anyone challenged her on her name change. Megan, on the other hand, wasn't to thrilled. First grade is a lot of work you know.

I'm sure that being away from her friends all summer made it all seem new and scary again. They both did great though. We got the usual run down of what happened on the big day - "we played, we ate, played some more, then came home and told you about it."

5 and 6 years old and they're already humoring us!! Ah to be young again!!

Where to start?

Well hello. This is my feeble attempt at better communication with family and friends. I am planning on putting up photos of the kids and letting you know what is going on in our lives. Please feel free to comment at any time. We look forwarding to hearing from you!!
